Description
For sale is my Pristine 1975 Mercedes-Benz 450SL Convertible. This 450SL is immaculate and has a Olive Green exterior with Tan MB-Tex interior. The seats are original condition and look like great. This Mercedes just turned 17k miles and it runs and drives fantastically. This is a really nice low mile car and no doubt the cleanest R107 SL. This vehicle is all original and has never been in any accidents or to the best of my knowledge, had any paint work done. This car is 100% original.
This vehicle needs nothing but a new caring owner and a new home. The previous owner never smoked in this car and it was always meticulously maintained and stored in a heated garage in CT.
The car was always stored in a climate controlled environment and you can tell this because you will not find a spec of rust, even surface rust, on this vehicle. It looks like it rolled off the showroom floor yesterday. Everything underneath looks like new. The previous owner told me the car had only been washed a few times. He would take the vehicle out for a short drive, and put it back into the garage, dust it off, and under a car cover it went. The convertible top was always down on the car, he never had the top up at all. He never drove the car in cold or wet weather, so he never used it.
When these pictures were taken, this was the first time since 1976, that the hardtop had been installed on the vehicle. The hardtop sat in the attic for 50 years under a tarp.
Upon inspecting the vehicle, I learned that even the radio and the power antenna are original to the vehicle. I know this because I have all the original warranty cars for the items and the VIN number and item number all match! I also learned that all the rubber seals and weather stripping are also original and have date codes on them. The convertible top is also original and can be verified by its proper "wopavin" markings on the rear glass. In the trunk, you will find the original Pirelli spare tire with the label still affixed to it, its never been mounted. You will also find the original Jack with the tag still on it and the complete tool kit. All the glass on the vehicle is original and has the Mercedes logos on every piece. When we removed the wheels to check the brakes, we learned that the vehicle still had the original factory brake pads! All the proper stickers and tags are present on this vehicle. Even the valve stem caps on the alloy wheels are original. Its just unbelievable! If you look closely, you will see that the car still has its original German Bosch stainless steel wiper arms! These were always thrown away after the first wiper change and cant be ordered anymore.
This vehicle has the vacuum operated central locking system and it works perfectly. Both doors, fuel door, and trunk all lock the way they should. This never worked on any other SL that I have had because over the years these systems are prone to failure and develop all sorts of vacuum leaks. This system is 100% and works the way it did when it was new.
We have all the original documentation for the vehicle. I have all the original owners manuals and booklets. I have all the original service booklets and warranty cars. We have all the Becker radio warranty cards and booklets. I have the original protecto plate for the vehicle. I have the original window sticker, inspection report, and bill of sale for the vehicle. We have the original top removal tools and the case that they came in. I have the original date coded flashlight mounted in the glove box. I have everything that you could want with this car. If it came with it new, I have it.
