Description

This is the Buick Special, two door model sadenette, which many affectionados call the "fastback" Buick. It is in unbelievably nice condition and the dark paint finish is of a very high state. Tires have been hardly run. They are whitewalls and are stock bias (non radials). Car has the stainless steel standard trim on the body with some slight discoloration on some of the stainless along the lower portion of the right front windshield. The chrome bumpers (both front and rear) are in remarkable condition and shine brightly. This was the only year that Buick featured the huge "teardrop" front grill and this grill alone could be hung on a museum wall as a featured display. It is just that beautiful. From front to rear this Buick looks fantastic.
Open the trunk and you will find, along with a fire extinguisher and some misc. parts in a box and tools, a brand new, never been on the ground "General" whitewall bias tire that perfectly matches the other four tires on the ground. The ignition key operates the truck and the glove box. The truck closes with a solid "thump". The rubber seals around the trunk were apparently part of the restoration job on this car as well as the door rubber trim. As you move towards the front of this jewel and open either of the two doors you will see an interior that you know has been restored to factory standard. The padding on both seats (front and rear) feels as new and I don't believe that there have been many people in the car since the restoration. The headliner was a part of the restoration is not sagging, although you can see some looseness there. Again, all of the interior of this Buick has been professionally done including the window lace, door trim, etc. She also wears new carpet front and rear. Interior light works, instrument panel lights work, glove box light works. I don't believe that the clock works and I have not bothered it. All chrome on the inside of this Buick shines like new money including the instrument cluster dial surrounds, the steering column pieces, door handles and the massive chrome assembly that houses some panel pieces and the Buick radio.
The high powered heater is located underneath the passenger seat and with the car on, and the heater turned on, you are equipped to withstand the coldest of winters. Let me repeat, everything on the inside of the car looks factory new. Next, pull either of the "hood handles" located on either side of the front corners of the interior and the corresponding side of the outside hood will pop up. (The hood will open from either side of these Buicks (left or right). Hood is very heavy and one would need to be very careful and not place your hand or fingers in danger by locating them under the hood as you lift it. If it slips and falls on a hand or finger, well, just PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN OPENING THE HOOD ON THESE TYPES OF BUICKS.
The engine of this sadanette is the straight eight Buick motor. These motors are slightly smaller than the big Buick Roadmaster motors, but they are still very powerful. I have not driven this car "hard" but the straight eight motor, hooked up to the "Dynaflow automatic transmission will take you on a nice cruise down the road. I have driven the car and have not noticed any unusual "shaking or vibration from the front end. Radiator is in great shape, the battery is in great shape, all hoses are just about new and she generally will start on the first press of the gas pedal. There is a secondary fuel filter just before the carburetor and as long as you see gas in the filter, the car will. I have noticed that if I let it sit for an extended period of time without starting it, it take longer to start. Just squirt a little starting fluid into the carb and she cranks right up! This is a very nice example of the 1950 Buick fastback Sedanette.
No rust, runs and drives great, very quiet, and just a very good car overall. Clean title.
