Description
1980 International Scout II 4x4 SD33T Turbo Diesel. I originally bought it based on my nostalgia for IH Scouts and I was very intrigued by the Nissan SD33T turbo diesel drivetrain. It is a very striking vehicle and if you end up owning it be prepared for lots of questions, comments, and thumbs-up for admirers. Vehicle has been garaged since purchased. Odometer shows just under 75,000 miles and is believed to be original based on condition of pedals and other parts. I have replaced many important components (see list below). The primary body panels are very straight (hood, roof, and quarters) are as they appear in photos. The previous owner did body work and a respray. Frame is very solid; the original owner had the car underbody sprayed with Ziebart and this served well to preserve the frame.
The vehicle starts, runs, and stops – Glow plugs are functional and take about 20-30 seconds to cycle up on a cold start. Engine is strong and tight with no blow-by. New old stock clutch has less than 100 miles since installed. 4-speed wide ratio transmission with synchronized low gear shifts smoothly. 4X4 high and low engages.

Needs:
Speedometer cable needs lubrication or replacement. I replaced this a few years ago but because of only occasional driving the cable tends to bind.
Fuel injectors need a cleaning or replacement. These particular diesels are all known to be a little smoky, i.e. “blue smokers.” Smoke dissipates a few minutes after warming up.
Undercarriage rust for floor pans and wheel wells. Some rust bubbles on windshield frame and quarter panels. See photos. Most of the IH Light Line parts dealers sell a comprehensive catalog of underbody sheet metal components and carpet kits.
