Description
Restored to original with minor adaptations. It is a 6 volt Positive ground using an 8 volt battery. Due to the fact that the original 28 Amp generator did not provide much margin beyond head lights, ignition and heater, I am using LED tail/turn signal lights on the rear and LED clearance lights. Do to the fact that LEDs do not allow reverse polarity, the Signal lights are flashed by using a contactor to 'flash' them. I have also added parking/turn signal light to the front mounted above the front bumper. It has the original vacuum wiper motors (wipers are installed, though not showing in the picture), the original Flathead V8 85 hp engine and the original 4 speed manual transmission and rear end. I have added a spin-on oil filter. The factory 1938 did not have hydraulic brakes, but some previous owner retrofitted this with hydraulic brakes - they work well.
The spare tire is underslung with a crank up GM style chain spare tire holder. The upholstery on the seat is new. The instrument cluster is new old stock (mileage reflects this rather than original miles). It has new 7.50 17" tires on the original wheels. The bed is made of Brazilian walnut planking. Everything works!
